About Us

We offer appointments 7 days a week at our salon in Bracknell and book our slots to accommodate the requirements of the customer and their dog. We offer a few late evening appointments for those owners with a heavy work schedule and also early morning appointments to work around the school runs. Just let us know your preferred time and we will try our best to meet your needs.

We also offer free advice on the upkeep of your dogs coat, health and general wellbeing. All of our groomers are fully qualified to City and Guilds level 3 or above, with distinctions. A distinction signifies perfection in grooming and we expect nothing less for every dog that comes through our doors. Our groomers also carry out an active teaching role at one of the UKs top grooming academies.

Please be aware of unqulifed groomers as they arent technically trained and could ruin the dogs coat or cause unnessary injury or illness to your dog as they arent aware of the theory or science of the animal. Always use a qulified dog groomer, there are many around with City & Guilds qualifications but sadly there are many unqualified ones too.

Please note, we DO NOT groom customers of Swaggers pet services. If you use this company to walk your dog then please contact another dog groomer as this policy is final.

Our salon is fully equipped with everything you will need to professionally groom a dog to breed or competition standard. It is fully insured and built specifically for grooming in a safe and hygienic environment, both for the groomer and the dog.

About the Groomer

“Jessie” James is the main groomer at Dogs of Distinction. He holds a City and Guilds level 3 qualification in dog grooming with a double distinction and the highest mark to date for the final exams in grooming. He is extremely knowledgeable about the coat cycle and the health and well being of every breed of dog. He qualified from the Groomarts academy which strives for perfection from all its students with a mark that entitled him to come back and help to teach. He specialises in handstripping and is a qualified stylist for every breed.

Before working as a dog groomer, Jessie has had a long pedigree working around dogs. For 3 years he was a trainer for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, after which he moved onto training working dogs for the private sector in the detection of explosives and illegal substances. However, he disliked how the dogs were treated so moved onto dog grooming so he could focus on the care and welfer of the dogs. He is also trained in K9 first aid and holds a speakers qualification as a representative for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

After a long stint at a dog hotel and grooming salon, he eventually found his way to the academy where he trained and finally worked. He opened the salon in April 2016 but still takes on a part time teaching role whenever he can. If he’s not grooming, he will be found walking his own dogs or attending various dog shows or competitions.

On the weekends, other qualified groomers may also work in the salon alongside Jessie. They will also hold a full City and Guilds qualification with distictions and also take an active teaching role within the academy.Only those with distinctions will ever be allowed to groom in the salon....hence the name!
